Meet Alex J. Chase, M.Ed., LPC

Is life hard for you right now? Are you struggling with identity, trauma, shame, or grief? Are you feeling sad, lonely, unmotivated, or stuck? Having difficulty managing your mood, anxiety, obsessions/computations or panic/fear? Is it becoming more difficult for you to maintain positive relationships in your life? Are you struggling with how to cope with and effectively manage recent or sudden changes? Life issues are hard enough, but going through them alone or unsupported is even harder. It can take a toll on a person mentally, physically, and emotionally. You are not your symptoms and you are not alone. Counseling can be a powerful asset and I would love the opportunity to be your ally as we work together through your journey of healing, insight, growth, and positive change.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and I have been working in the mental health field for over 15 years. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology/Sociology in 2003 from the University of Houston. I returned to the same university to continue my graduate school work and graduated with my M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology in 2011. My clinical experience includes: private practice, inpatient psychiatric facility, Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient facilities (PHP/IOP), a correctional facility, government agency caseworker and several community agencies/organizations including: Montrose Center, HAWC, AVDA, The Shape of Behavior, and the TX School for the Deaf. I have also worked as a contractor to provide court-ordered interventions including: Parenting, Substance Abuse, BIPP, and Anger Management groups. My experience has given me an amazing opportunity to work with individuals, couples, families, and groups who have a variety of diagnoses and levels of functioning.

I have a passion for working with clients who are a part of the LGBTQIA+

    • Gender Identity
    • Intimate Partner and Relationship Issues
    • Family issues, discord and/or dysfunction (including family of origin, current family, blended families, and in-laws)

    • Co-Parenting issues and navigating divorce/separation with children
    • Substance Abuse and Relapse Prevention
    • Addiction Issues (alcohol, drugs, sex, food, work, gaming, gambling, etc)
    • Adjustment to life changes

I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches and techniques that are highly personalized to fit the individual needs of each client to address your own personal life challenges and reach your individualized goals. My clinical approach is client-centered and eclectic, and includes: solution-focused, CBT, family systems, DBT, holistic, humanistic, Gottman (for couples), and strengths-based approaches. I have found that a critical factor in therapeutic outcomes lies in the relationship and rapport you have with your therapist. I pride myself on my ability to create a supportive and trusting therapeutic relationship with compassionate and unbiased understanding. I strive to create a foundation that provides a safe, non-judgmental environment so that personal exploration, reflection, growth, and positive changes can occur. We will start from where you are right now and I am committed to fully understand your internal experience, life history, patterns, and current struggles leading up to today. It would be a privilege to assist you in recognizing your innate ability, build on your strengths, process the past, and provide you with practical feedback and new skills you can utilize in the present and future. I can help you learn self-awareness, find purpose and meaning, identify triggers and patterns, explore behavioral responses and develop effective coping skills. I look forward to working with you as your ally to provide you with the support, guidance, insight, and tools you can use on your path to create the happier, empowered, authentic, and more fulfilled life you deserve.
